Face Weight

The face weight of a carpet denotes how heavy a carpet is in ounces per square yard- the general idea being that the greater the face weight is, the denser the carpet will be. However, this has to be taken in combination with the Face Weight - a longer pile will of course mean more weight without the density! A general rule of thumb is that 35oz or more is the ideal for domestic use.
